About Bunker Sound
Bunker Sound Productions is an Award-Winning Recording, Mixing and Mastering Powerhouse in North Carolina
Owner, Audio Engineer, Mixer, Producer and Mastering Engineer
Steven Raets is the owner, audio engineer and producer at Bunker Sound Studio. A life long music enthusiast who played in bands since he was 12 years old, he finally made his dream come true when in 2013 he set up Bunker Sound Productions. His vision was to build an affordable, yet very high end studio, where artists would feel comfortable to create.
Since then, Steven has produced, recorded and mixed many bands and assisted other producers. Steven is driven, enthusiastic, has a positive attitude and artistic mind. He is keen on helping bands, artists and singer/songwriters achieve their potential. Nothing gives him more satisfaction than to work with artists to record, mix and produce their songs to the highest possible standards.
Early 2016 Steven was trained by legendary mastering guru Vlado Meller. Since then, Steven has been the main mastering engineer at Bunker Sound. He mastered the cd and vinyl album, Darkness Remains (Sony/Century Media and SPV/Steamhammer), for the band Night Demon (Ventura, CA). The album reached #19 on Billboard – Current Hard Music, #6 on Amazon – Best Sellers Metal Home Page and #10 on Amazon Hot New Releases (digital and vinyl). Night Demon’s Darkness Remains was chosen by the listeners of WJCU as top album of the year 2017 as well as made the top pick album of the year 2017 by Bravewords @ Mark Gromen.
In the summer of 2017, Steven came up with the idea to start an incubator platform for emerging artists in the music industry. The idea took shape in the form of NovaMusicLab, a worldwide platform to discover, develop and empower emerging artists.

Our facility is set up so bands can choose to either track together or separately. Our 5 different sounding rooms can accommodate even the most challenging set ups. All our rooms are interconnected – we can send speaker or signal levels to each room from the control room or from one room to another room.
For example, a guitarist or bass player can comfortably sit in the control room while tracking because we can send their speaker or sound-signal to whatever room the guitar amp or speaker is placed in.
It also means that even for large set ups we can accomplish great separation while tracking a band together. We can have a drum and bass amp set up in the Live Room, stack a guitar amp in the Booth 1 Sound Lock Entrance, put horns in the larger Booth 2, and have singers in the Vocal Booth 1. All rooms have windows and a line of sight to each other. Booth 2 has a double door that can be opened to increase the feeling of togetherness for the band.
After a long day working in the studio, enjoy a walk or get inspired in our 10-acre landscaped yard, orchard and pond. Hang out at our bar/gazebo and play some corn hole or pétanque!
More comprehensive studio packages can be put together to include catering, beverages, a cook out on the fully equipped fire pit that can hold a 250 pound whole pig or outdoor kitchen. Transportation from and to the airport and/or your hotel can also be arranged. We can provide total discretion in case that would be required. Call us to discuss your project!
Tell us about your musical project, and we'll give you a quote for use of our state-of-the-art studios.
